Thomas D. Harrington, Jr.
Tom Harrington is the President of A1HR and is responsible for the management of the company as well as the company’s legal and regulatory matters. Mr. Harrington has over 23 years of experience in the Professional Employer Organization industry and has been with A1HR since it commenced business in 1999. A1HR now has almost 30,000 worksite employees. He has an undergraduate degree in accounting from Stetson University and a law degree from Vanderbilt University. His background includes: public accounting, private law practice, Regional Counsel and Vice President of Development for a large commercial real estate development company, and General Counsel for one of the largest privately held Professional Employer Organizations.
Senior Vice President, Sales
Paul Bernier has been with A1HR since the company’s inception in 1999. He has been instrumental in the growth and development of the company which now has almost 30,000 worksite employees. He has over 20 years of Professional Employer Organization industry experience with an extensive knowledge of both sales and operations. Paul has consistently been one of the top producers in the industry and he is dedicated to providing the best customer service to all of A1HR’s clients.
Cindy Fowler, PHR
Senior Director of Human Resources
Cindy Fowler has over 30 years of Professional Employer Organization industry experience, 19 of which have been with A1HR. She is certified as a Professional in Human Resources (PHR). Cindy’s passion is providing HR solutions to our clients. Her areas of expertise include: human resources, employment practices, wage and hour, employee benefits, retirement plans and ACA. Prior to A1HR, she was the Benefits Manager for one of the largest employee leasing companies in the industry and also worked with the City of Tampa administering union contracts, personnel policies/procedures and benefits.
Director, Business Analytics
Doug Stewart combines 18 years of Information Technology experience with a deep knowledge of Professional Employer Organization operations to create the custom technology solutions he manages for our customers. Doug is the architect and creative mind behind A1HR’s suite of online services. His knowledge and experience form a strong foundation that he uses to develop powerful tools that clients can use to manage their employees, process payroll efficiently, maintain time and attendance, deliver custom reports, import and export files with ease, and much more. In addition, A1HR’s employee portal offers employees the opportunity to effortlessly access their pay stubs, pay history, W-2’s, job information and more.
Scott A. Johnson
Director of Risk and Safety
After receiving his Bachelor’s degree from Troy State University, Scott Johnson began his career in Risk Management while doing his post graduate work and has amassed over 29 years of Risk Management and Safety experience. 25 years of Scott’s experience are specific to the Professional Employer Organization industry including the last 18 years with A1HR. Scott is a member of the American Society of Safety Engineers, The Risk and Insurance Management Society and The National Fire Protection Association. Scott is an author and has published several articles and papers in professional journals and magazines. He takes great pride in providing superior service to clients while reducing claims and loss ratios.
Don Tu graduated with a Master of Accountancy degree from Stetson University. He has over 20 years of experience in public accounting and private industry. Prior to joining A1HR, Don was the Controller for Florida’s largest vending company. While there, he helped the company grow to over $35 million in revenue. Don is committed to providing accurate and timely financial data.
Director of IT
Mick Murschell has a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science with a focus on the development of enterprise application software. He has over 19 years of experience in the Professional Employer Organization industry. He has also developed systems for numerous national and regional companies.
Director of Client Services
Larissa Colvin has been dedicated to personalized Customer Service for more than 25 years. She has 13 years of PEO experience of which 10 have been with A1HR. She understands the importance of managing strategic partnerships, providing hands on customer service, and is willing to always go above and beyond for all of A1HR’s clients. This ensures that A1HR will continue to be the industry leader in customer satisfaction.
Director of Payroll
Michael Smiling has over 30 years of payroll experience with 20+ years in the PEO industry. Michael graduated from Strayer University with a B.A. in Business Management and a minor in Human Resources. Michael’s tremendous payroll experience gives him the ability to supervise and streamline every aspect of an efficient payroll department. His top priority is to ensure payrolls are processed timely, accurately, and delivered to A1HR’s customers by a team of dedicated professionals.
